Leonard Milton Ham, Sr., 89, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on September 12, 1920 in Mooresville, to the late James Robert and Oleta Mae Arthurs Ham. He attended Mooresville High School and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army and US Air Corps. He was retired from Duke Power and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a charter member of the Mooresville Artist Guild and was a charter member of the Carolina Accordion Players Association.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olena Smith Ham, whom he married September 27, 1941; brothers, Robert and Charles Ham; sisters, Daisy H. Azars and Mildred Catherine Ham; and grandson, Joshua Cornelius.


He is survived by his children, Cynthia Smithdeal and husband, Rick, Suzanne Cornelius and husband, Gary, Leonard M. Ham, Jr., Julia Perry and husband, Donnie; sister-in-law, Gozelle Ham; grandchildren, Richie, Emily, Leonard III, Trina, Jenny, Donna; and great grandchildren, Brody, Danny, Michael, and Christian.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 11 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jerry Cloninger and Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM on Saturday at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
