Vanilla Ice Cream

4 eggs

2 1/2 cups sugar

8 cups (1/2 gallon) milk

2 cups (1 pint) whipping cream

2 1/2 Tablespoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

Beat eggs till light. Add sugar gradually, beating till thick. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Freeze in 5 quart ice cream freezer.

Makes 1 gallon.

Optional: Mix in crushed bananas, pineapple, peaches, or strawberries before freezing.

Optional; Serve with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, nuts, etc. and top with a cherry.
